The Japanese 'flower pot' or Hibachi.<\/h2>\n

When you visit our store Black Market Antiques in Antwerp or our webshop you will see various Japanese \u201cflower pots\u201d.<\/p>\n

Hibachi are indeed mostly used today as a cachepot because they match perfectly with a beautiful plant and fit into any interior.<\/p>\n

But if you read on you will know that a hibachi is really anything but a flower pot.<\/p>\n

Our copies are all authentic Japanese with a beautiful used, weathered look.<\/p>\n

A beautiful set of hibachi goes hand in hand with the emerging wabi-sabi interior philosophy.<\/p>\n

Our hibachi are therefore mainly sold to interior designers and interior decorators.<\/p>\n

Fanatic bonsai enthusiasts are already hunting for these beautiful braziers.<\/p>\n

However, a hibachi is much more than that.<\/p>\n

The first copies date from the Heian period (794 to 1185).<\/p>\n

The hibachi (Japanese: \u706b\u9262, fire bowl) is a traditional Japanese heating element.<\/p>\n

It is a kind of brazier: cylindrical, round or rectangular with an open top.<\/p>\n

The inside is lined with a metal heat-resistant lining, often copper.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The pot was filled with non-combustible ash into which the glowing charcoal was placed.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>

The hibachi also includes certain accessories.<\/p>\n

For example: hibashi(\u706b\u7bb8, fire sticks), metal 'chopsticks' to organize the glowing coals.<\/p>\n

Originally it was just a heating device. Sometimes tea was heated on it. From 1900 it was sometimes also used as a cooking appliance.<\/p>\n

In our antique shop you will find different types of hibachi.<\/p>\n

Beautifully hand-painted porcelain pieces, the traditional lacquer work with or without inlay, finely finished round wooden braziers and hibachi made from heavy tree stumps,...<\/p>\n

In the photos you can see a selection of our offer and also an example of the metal sticks to handle the coal. In yet another photo you can see one of our favorites, made from a beautiful tree stump. Pay special attention to the excellent color palette of the metal inner lining.<\/p>\n

These decorative braziers give your interior an authentic Eastern accent.<\/p>\n

Whether or not used as a cachepot, a hibachi is a must if you are looking for the pure Japanese Wabi-Sabi (\u4f98\u5bc2) inspiration.<\/p>\n
