Japanese Mid-Century Ikebana, Tachikichi “Yaegasumi Ekubo” Vase, 1980s
Elegant Japanese design vase by Tachikichi (たち吉), known as Yaegasumi Ekubo Hanaike – a poetic name that evokes layered mist and a softly animated surface.
Dimensions: height 17 cm, diameter 11 cm. Marked on the base.
The vase has an organic, drop-shaped form and is finished in a cool blue-green glaze with a pronounced ice-crackle effect. Fine violet-brown lines within the glaze give the surface a crystalline look that plays beautifully with the light.
Characteristic are the subtle undulations in the wall, which make the shape gently wavy rather than strictly geometric. This gives the vase a very tactile, almost sculptural presence – ideal for a single branch, a minimalist ikebana arrangement, or as a stand-alone object on a sideboard, side table or Japanese cabinet.
The vase is in perfect condition, with no chips or cracks; the soft undulations in the surface are part of the design and underline the studio quality of this Tachikichi piece.
