Japanese Fan “Himalaya & Moon” — Takashimaya, by Hōrin, 1960s
A rare and refined uchiwa (round paddle fan) from Japan, made for the prestigious Takashimaya department store in the 1960s.
Dimensions: height 50 cm, width 35 cm, depth 1 cm.
The fan depicts a serene mountain landscape with snow-capped peaks beneath a full moon — a poetic composition titled “Himalaya & Moon.”
Signed by Hōrin (法林) at lower right; the reverse bears the Takashimaya mark. Wooden handle and a finely ribbed paper surface that catches the light beautifully.
Complete with the original blue wall-hanging cord with tassels (uchiwa-kake), allowing it to be displayed as wall art.
In very good condition, with minor age traces visible in the photos (small stains on the reverse).
An elegant piece of Japanese design — subtle and atmospheric — perfect as an art object in modern or Japan-inspired interiors.
