Set of Traditional Dento Kokeshi – Yajirō-kei, Japan, 1960–70

Charming set of two handcrafted dento kokeshi dolls from the Yajirō-kei tradition, originating from the Miyagi region in Japan.

In beautiful vintage condition, with minimal signs of age.

Both dolls date from the Shōwa period (circa 1960–70) and are signed on the base by the makers. The stylistic features clearly point to the Yajirō school, known for its slender silhouettes and vivid red accents.

The two dolls form a harmonious pair:
One features an elegant, slightly tapered body with wide horizontal bands in red and natural wood tones.
The other displays floral decorations in stylized red blossoms, also on a slender body with red highlights.

Both faces are typical of the Yajirō style: subtly and symmetrically painted with fine brushstrokes, and topped with a distinctive black hairstyle accented with red detailing.

A unique and authentic Japanese interior accent with collectible value – perfect for lovers of folk art or wabi-sabi aesthetics.
