Rare Sicilian Ceramic Wall Plaque with Owl – 1950s-1960s, Italy

Distinctive hand-painted ceramic wall plaque from Caltagirone, Sicily, dating from the 1950s-1960s. At its centre is an elaborately modelled owl in high relief, surrounded by elegant floral motifs characteristic of traditional Sicilian ceramics.

The vibrant colour palette of deep blue, turquoise, soft green and warm yellow gives the piece a distinctive Mediterranean character. The owl, traditionally a symbol of wisdom and protection, forms a striking decorative centrepiece.

Beautiful vintage condition with an authentic patina, fine glaze crazing and minor signs of wear consistent with age. Marked G.S. Caltagirone on the reverse.
