Product Details

A beautiful and authentic Japanese house altar (kamidana) dating from the late Edo period.

Dimensions: height 51 cm, width 52 cm, depth 28.5 cm.

This authentic wooden household shrine boasts a beautifully aged appearance, having developed a deep, warm patina over the years.

The kamidana (神棚, literally ‘god/spirit shelf’) is a traditional miniature household altar designed to honor a Shinto kami (deity or spirit).

This kamidana remains in its original, unrestored condition and has been carefully cleaned and treated with respect for its historical character. Due to the passage of time, there may be loose or missing parts (see photos), which only add to the charm and authenticity of this unique piece.
