Elegant Shigaraki Ikebana Kyūyō Flower Vase – Japan, 1980s
Elegant Japanese vase, crafted in the renowned Shigaraki region, one of the six classical pottery centers of Japan.
Dimensions: height 25 cm, diameter 14 cm. In perfect condition, complete with its original wooden tomobako box and Kyūyō 九耀 certificate.
The vase features a rounded body with a slender, flaring neck. Its surface reveals a subtle interplay of earthy beige tones, soft pink hues, and moss-green ash glaze. The characteristic crackle and granular texture result from the traditional wood-firing process, giving each piece a unique and vibrant character. This combination reflects the wabi-sabi aesthetic of simplicity, natural imperfection, and transient beauty.
Traditionally used as a flower vase (kabin) in the art of ikebana, today it also serves as a striking decorative interior piece. With its pure, understated presence, this vase creates a powerful accent in both modern and classic interiors.
