The tradition of Satsuki dolls is closely linked to the Japanese Boys’ Festival (Tango no Sekku, now celebrated as Kodomo no Hi), held annually on May 5th. On this day, families would display samurai dolls and pieces of armor to inspire strength, discipline, and bravery in the next generation, while wishing for their health and prosperity.
