Set of Japanese Tea Cups, Yunomi, Shodai-yaki, Shōwa Period.
Beautiful set of five Japanese tea cups, also known as yunomi. Traditional Japanese glazed pottery from the 1970s-80s.
Dimensions: height 7 cm, diameter 7 cm.
The cups feature an organic, ‘dented’ shape that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also fits comfortably in the hand.
The glaze is particularly refined: the upper rim boasts a deep, glossy ruby-red hue that subtly transitions into a playful dripping effect. Delicate turquoise accents are incorporated into the design. The lower portion of the cups is finished in a soft speckled white-grey glaze, providing the perfect contrast to the vibrant upper section.
Each cup is marked on the underside with Japanese characters, bearing the maker’s name: Shodai-yaki.
This set is not only perfect for serving tea or espresso — enhancing the experience of every drink — but also serves as a beautiful decorative piece for the home, adding a touch of Japanese elegance to your interior.
