Product Details

Antique Japanese Kiri Hibachi, a traditional fire bowl crafted from paulownia wood dating back to the late Meiji period (1890-1910).

The hibachi features a removable copper lining designed for ashes and charcoal. Dimensions: height 20 cm, diameter 27 cm.

Decorated with floral motifs using the Maki-e technique (蒔絵) with accents of Raden (螺鈿), mother-of-pearl inlay.

Originally used as a hand warmer, this hibachi now serves various contemporary purposes, such as an original planter or purely as a decorative interior accent.

The word "hibachi" is derived from the Japanese words "hi" (fire) and "bachi" (pot), referring to a pot for fire.
