Antique Low Japanese Zataku Table, 1920s
This low Japanese table has an elongated rectangular top and elegantly shaped legs with a soft, curved profile. The construction is sober yet refined, with a warm dark-brown wood tone and a naturally aged surface full of quiet character.
Dimensions: height 30.5 cm, width 91.5 cm, depth 40.5 cm.
The table most likely dates from the Taishō period or early Shōwa period, around the 1920s. Low tables of this type, known as zataku, were traditionally used in Japanese interiors while seated on the floor, for tea, writing or everyday use.
Today, this piece works beautifully as a low side table, compact coffee table or display surface for ceramics, books, ikebana or selected objects. Its calm form and warm patina make it ideal for a minimalist, natural or eclectic contemporary interior.
In very good condition, with signs of use and natural ageing consistent with age and use. Solid and functional.
