Antique Suzuribako (硯箱) Calligraphy Box, Japan, Meiji Period.

Suzuribako (硯箱) is a small storage furniture for writing tools and calligraphy supplies: inkstones, pens, brushes, etc.

This piece dates back to the Meiji period and features two drawers and storage space at the top.

Beautifully weathered wood finished with a metal trim. The lid of the storage space at the top is opened using a push button.

This Kake-Suzuri is signed at the bottom with ink and a brand mark.

The inside still clearly shows traces of ink.

A beautiful and authentic interior piece that radiates history and is highly decorative. In a lovely well-used and usable condition.
