Product Details

Dimensions: height 10 cm, diameter 33 cm.

A striking Art Deco bowl in glazed earthenware, produced by the Czechoslovak ceramic manufacturer Ditmar Urbach during the interwar period.

The bowl has a broad, low form with an elegantly undulating rim and four distinctive curled loops applied around the body as sculptural handles. This expressive design gives the object a powerful, almost architectural appearance, characteristic of the innovative decorative ceramics produced during the 1920s and 1930s.

The earthenware is finished with a glossy, mottled glaze in deep burgundy and dusty pink tones. Its subtle colour variations and speckled texture add depth to the surface, allowing each section of the bowl to respond differently to the light.

The underside bears the factory mark Ditmar Urbach – T, Teplitz – Made in Czechoslovakia, clearly documenting its origin and production period.

Originally designed as a decorative fruit bowl, it is equally attractive today as an independent ceramic art object displayed on a dining table, low cabinet, sideboard or central display. Its generous proportions and unusual silhouette make it a distinctive focal point in both vintage and contemporary interiors.

In excellent antique condition, without chips, cracks or restorations. Any minimal signs of use are consistent with its age.

A highly characterful example of Czechoslovak Art Deco ceramics with a strong sculptural presence.
