Product Details

This expressive carving of Hotei, also known as the Laughing Buddha, was skillfully crafted in Japan from a single solid piece of wood.

With his warm presence, cheerful smile, and rounded forms, Hotei brings a positive, calming energy into any home.

Dimensions: Height 35.5 cm, width 17 cm, depth 13 cm.

Dating from the Shōwa period, this statue originally served as a temple icon, symbolizing luck, abundance, and contentment.

Hotei is a beloved figure in Japanese Buddhism and one of the Seven Lucky Gods. He carries a cloth sack filled with gifts and food to share, along with a mala prayer necklace around his neck. According to folklore, rubbing his belly is said to bring good fortune.

With its warm wooden patina and lively expression, this statue is not only a spiritual symbol but also a unique decorative piece that adds an authentic Japanese touch to any interior—from traditional to modern.

In good vintage condition with minimal signs of age, this is a characterful piece brimming with positive energy.
