Product Details

This exquisite and refined Japanese zabuton is a traditional Buddhist meditation cushion, historically used for rituals, ceremonies, or as floor seating in temples and tatami rooms. A single-piece treasure, it radiates opulence and symbolism, serving as both a functional piece and a striking decorative object.

Dimensions: 48 cm × 65 cm, 11 cm thick
Condition: Beautiful vintage state – with a minor, discreet burn mark (see detail photo).

The outer fabric is a luxurious jacquard weave in warm gold tones, featuring a repeating chrysanthemum (kiku) pattern—the imperial symbol of Japan. Depending on the light, the cushion reveals subtle purple undertones, enhancing the depth and elegance of the textile. Interwoven among the floral motifs are stylized blossoms and cloud patterns, characteristic of Buddhist ceremonial textiles.

The corners are finished with traditional fabric ties, typical of Japanese zabuton.

Ideal for meditation, as part of a Japanese-inspired interior, or as a unique accent in a spiritual space. Also exceptionally suited as an altar cushion or decorative element in a Buddhist arrangement.
