Belgian RUBIO Metal Advertising Sign, 1956

An original Belgian metal advertising sign for RUBIO, a product developed to waterproof and protect various building materials.

Dimensions: height 33 cm, width 40 cm.

The sign features a bold graphic design in red, blue, black and cream, with large diagonal lettering and a charming illustration of a painter carrying a paint tin. Its expressive typography and strongly contrasting colour fields are characteristic of commercial advertising design from the 1950s.

RUBIO was promoted as a protective waterproofing product suitable for materials including zinc, concrete, sheet metal and damp walls. Small illustrations along the bottom of the sign show its different applications.

Today, this advertising sign makes a highly decorative collector’s item with an authentic industrial appearance. It would look particularly striking on the wall of a kitchen, workshop, shop, bar or interior decorated with vintage and industrial elements.

In good original vintage condition, with light signs of use, minor surface scratches, discolouration and wear around the edges consistent with its age and original use.
