Brutalist Wrought-Iron Candlestick, ca. 1960–1970

An impressive vintage candlestick made from heavy wrought iron, most likely produced during the 1960s or 1970s and designed in a distinctly Brutalist visual language.

The tall central stem is composed of a rhythmic succession of flat discs and open concentric circular forms. Its three curved legs repeat the same sculptural motif, creating a powerful yet balanced silhouette. Serrated edges and visible traces of manual metalworking emphasise its raw, handcrafted character.

At the top is a broad circular drip pan fitted with a metal spike to hold a candle securely. The deep dark finish and natural patina add depth to the iron and reinforce the object’s architectural appearance.

With its generous height and open construction, the candlestick casts striking graphic shadows when lit. It is particularly attractive displayed on the floor, beside a fireplace, in a spacious entrance hall or as a sculptural accent within a Brutalist, modernist or eclectic interior.

In very good vintage condition, with normal wear, oxidation, discolouration and patina consistent with its age and material. Substantially made, heavy and stable.
