A charming Japanese sōsaku kokeshi by Tomio Ishida, titled Kosode.

Dimensions: H 26 cm × Ø 12 cm.

This wooden kokeshi is distinguished by its voluminous, carefully carved hairstyle, decorated with fine black lines and a deep red hair bow. The dark brown kimono features strikingly wide sleeves and is adorned with stylised Japanese plum blossoms in warm ochre tones. Subtle accents of yellow and soft pink create a beautiful contrast.

The combination of refined woodcarving, warm natural wood tones and traditional motifs lends this kokeshi a timeless elegance.

The underside bears a faded artist's stamp.

In beautiful vintage condition, with a natural patina & light signs of age and use.
