Patinated Metal Shell Relief with Spiny Lobsters, 1970s, Japan
Japanese decorative relief in patinated metal, dating from the 1970s and shaped like a large seashell.
Dimensions: H 18 × W 23 × D 7 cm.
This sculptural ornament depicts two spiny lobsters in finely detailed high relief. Their segmented bodies, long antennae and carefully modelled features create a lively composition against the gently curved shell. Graceful, flowing lines enhance the natural character of the design.
The deep blue-green patina contrasts beautifully with warm copper-toned accents, subtly highlighting the raised details. The interplay of colour, texture and light gives the piece a rich and distinctive appearance.
The shell has a hollow, simply finished reverse. Its unusual marine motif and decorative design make it a characterful example of Japanese ornamental metalwork.
In beautiful vintage condition, with an attractive patina and light signs of age.
An original and eye-catching decorative object whose organic form and distinctive colours bring a refined accent to a stylish or eclectic interior.
