Danish Postmodern Metal Coat Stand, 1980s
Dimensions: height 180 cm, diameter approx. 40 cm.
An elegant Danish freestanding coat stand dating from the 1980s, made from black-lacquered metal and distinguished by its clean, graphic design.
The construction consists of three slender vertical uprights of varying heights, connected by horizontal bars with rounded ends. This restrained geometry gives the coat stand a distinctly architectural appearance, while the various hooks provide ample space for coats, hats, scarves and bags.
The triangular arrangement of the uprights creates a balanced silhouette. At the base, the stand rests on a broad conical foot, visually anchoring the design and providing stability. Its entirely black finish reinforces the minimalist character and allows the form itself to remain central.
The design relates beautifully to Scandinavian postmodernism of the 1980s, combining functional simplicity with bold geometric lines and an almost sculptural presence.
Its slender proportions allow the coat stand to occupy very little visual space. It is particularly attractive in an entrance hall, bedroom, office, shop or interior with modernist, industrial or postmodern elements.
In attractive vintage condition, with light signs of use, minor scratches and localised wear to the finish consistent with age and use.
A functional and timeless Danish design object with a strong graphic silhouette.
