Mid Century Japanese Celadon Glaze Vase – 1950–1970
Impressive ikebana vase finished in a soft green celadon glaze, featuring an elegant rounded shoulder and a tall, slender foot.
Dimensions: height 37 cm, diameter 35 cm.
The surface is decorated with a subtly incised floral and foliage motif, revealed beneath the transparent glaze – a hallmark technique of celadon ceramics. The fine crackle in the glaze enhances its lively, organic character.
The color shifts from fresh light green to deeper jade tones, depending on the light and angle. Celadon has been celebrated in Japanese and Korean ceramic traditions for centuries, valued for its serene and almost ethereal presence.
This vase is unmarked, in perfect condition, and blends traditional craftsmanship with timeless design. Ideal for ikebana arrangements, it also stands beautifully on its own as a sculptural statement piece.
With its understated hue and monumental size, the vase adds a refined and striking accent to both modern interiors and wabi-sabi inspired settings.
