This Japanese kaidan-dansu is a striking architectural piece of furniture with an asymmetrical structure, a warm dark-brown wood tone, and richly worked black metal fittings. This type of furniture refers to the traditional Japanese step chest, originally integrated into staircases in machiya townhouses and other wooden homes, where storage and architecture were combined in an ingenious way.

The layout is varied, with multiple drawers, two sliding doors, and open compartments that create rhythm, depth, and practical usability. It also comes with its original key, which operates all the locks.
