Product Details

Old Japanese paper lantern, or chōchin (提灯), from the 1920s.

Lantern dimensions: height 37 cm, width 22 cm, depth 31 cm.

Wooden storage box dimensions: height 28.5 cm, width 29.5 cm, depth 14 cm.

Both the lantern and the wooden storage box feature a Japanese family crest: 'Takanoha'.

The "Takanoha Crest" (鷹の羽紋, Takanoha mon) is a Japanese family emblem representing falcon feathers, symbolizing strength and courage. It was often used by samurai families for these qualities.

The Japanese characters "阿部" (Abe) are also visible, which is a Japanese family name.

The lantern can stand on its own, be hung with the side hook, or be suspended with a chain.

An original and sought-after decorative interior item, symbolizing Japanese serenity and aesthetics.

This chōchin is in good condition with minor signs of aging/damage, as shown in the photos.
