Japanese Shino Chawan – “Yamato Sushi” Anniversary Tea Bowl, 1970s

This hand-formed Japanese tea bowl is made in Shino-style stoneware, finished with a soft, milky white glaze that gently fades into pale grey. The surface shows fine pinholes and tiny iron specks, with warm rust-brown accents along the rim and foot—hallmarks of Shino’s lively, kiln-driven character.

Bold calligraphy runs around the bowl, referencing Yamato Sushi and nigiri; it was likely made as a commemorative or anniversary piece.
