Kamakura-bori is an artisan lacquerware technique from Kamakura in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, with a seven-century-old history. Originated in traditional Buddhist sculpture and later transferred to contemporary craftsmen. Patterns are made in wood, lacquered with several colour coats of Macomo Indian Ink, and then polished.
