Small Wooden Japanese Ladder with Two Steps, 1940s
Charming small wooden ladder from Japan, handmade and likely dating from the 1940s.
Dimensions: height 63 cm, width 50 cm, depth 11 cm.
The design is simple and functional: two narrow steps set at an angle between two wide side panels. The wood has a beautifully darkened, warm patina with visible signs of use, small scratches and discolourations that give the piece an honest, well-lived character. The deep brown tones make it especially atmospheric in a modern interior.
The ladder can stand on its own leaning against a wall, but for use as a display piece additional fixing is recommended. In that role it truly comes into its own as a creative interior accent. It also works very well as an inspiring styling element in a shop or gallery setting.
An authentic piece of Japanese craftsmanship that brings calm, simplicity and wabi-sabi into any space.
