Minimalist Hagi-yaki Ikebana Vase, Tsubaki Kiln, 1970s.
This exquisite Japanese ikebana vase represents a refined example of traditional Hagi-yaki ceramic art, originating from the Tsubaki Kiln in Tenpōzan.
Dimensions: Height 26 cm, diameter 21 cm.
The vase radiates simplicity and serenity, embodying the wabi-sabi aesthetic—a Japanese philosophy celebrating the beauty of imperfection, transience, and rustic simplicity.
Its form features a rounded, organically shaped belly that subtly tapers toward the base. The short neck opens into a slightly flared rim, while two small curved handles grace each side. These understated details add character without compromising the minimalist elegance.
The pale gray to soft white glaze is quintessential Hagi ware, with an almost milky softness. Natural crackling and irregular finishing enhance its authentic wabi-sabi charm. Toward the base, the glaze transitions into a warm earthy brown, where the raw clay texture remains visible—a striking contrast that evokes the elements of earth and fire.
The vase is in perfect condition, bearing the Tsubaki Kiln's stamp, and includes its original wooden storage box (tomobako).
More than just a vase, this piece is a tranquil accent that enriches any space with natural simplicity and Japanese refinement. A perfect treasure for admirers of Japanese art, wabi-sabi, and organic minimalism.
