Nancy Kunoth Petyarre was an Aboriginal artist living in Utopia, 170 miles from Alice Springs.
The second oldest of Utopia's famous and prolific 'seven famous Petyarre sisters', she was not a prolific artist herself. It wasn't until she was in her forties, in the eighties, that Nancy started painting.
She first worked on batik and later on canvas.
She also made wood carvings that could be seen in many exhibitions.
