Ruscha Keramik Wall Plate with Parrot, c. 1950

A decorative mid-century wall plate by Ruscha Keramik from Rheinbach, West Germany, featuring a colourful parrot design on a deep matte black background.

Dimensions: diameter 18.5 cm.

The plate has a strong graphic design, with a stylised parrot in fresh tones of yellow, turquoise, white, orange and deep brown. The fine incised lines around the bird and the bamboo-like branches give the piece an elegant, almost illustrative character. The contrast between the matte black surface and the glossy coloured accents makes this a small but visually powerful object.

Today, this plate lends itself beautifully as wall decoration in a mid-century, eclectic or modern interior. Lovely on its own, but also very strong as part of a ceramic display, vintage arrangement or small wall composition.
