Set of Antique Armchairs in Walnut with Ikat Pattern, late 19th century
This set of two characterful armchairs has the kind of presence that instantly brings warmth and personality to a room. The silhouette is classic and solid: a high, gently reclining back, a generously proportioned seat, and elegant arms that finish in richly carved scroll volutes.
Dimensions (per chair): height 110 cm, width 62 cm, depth 82 cm. Seat height approx. 45 cm.
The base is crafted in walnut, with turned legs, an X-shaped stretcher and substantial, sculptural feet that give the chairs a strong, historic feel.
The upholstery is a true focal point: a woven textile with a lively chevron/ikat pattern in warm, saturated tones (red, green, ochre and blue) on a natural ground. The pronounced weave adds depth and a tactile, almost tapestry-like quality. Along the edges, dark decorative nailheads create a bold detail and a pleasing rhythm against the pattern.
These armchairs work beautifully in an eclectic interior: as a pair by the fireplace, in a characterful entrance hall, or as a contrasting accent in a more minimal, contemporary setting. They pair effortlessly with vintage, mid-century, boho and maximalist spaces.
The set is in very good condition, with normal age-related wear consistent with its age and use.
