Product Details

This unique Shigaraki Mizusashi is a beautiful example of traditional Japanese ceramics: originally made as a water vessel for the tea ceremony, yet equally compelling today as a sculptural object within an interior setting.

Dimensions: height 19 cm, diameter 20 cm.

The Shigaraki clay is distinctly characterful, with visible and tactile coarse grains of sand and stone that give the surface a rich, earthy texture. The piece is unglazed (yakishime) and displays natural tones ranging from warm beige to ash grey, with subtle iron-rich nuances created during the firing process. The form is organic and well balanced, finished with a lid and two small lug handles.

In perfect condition, unsigned. Comes with a tomobako (wooden storage box).
