Authentic Japanese storage cabinet from the Meiji period.

Dimensions: Height 68 cm, Width 46 cm, Depth 32 cm

This charming traditional storage cabinet from the Meiji period was originally used for storing ceramic eating bowls and tea utensils. The cabinet features a drawer at the bottom and a storage compartment above, divided by practical shelves.

The door and drawer are elegantly finished with beautifully shaped metal fittings, enhancing the cabinet's authentic appearance.

The piece is in excellent original condition and has developed a characterful patina over the years.

The back of the cabinet displays hand-painted Japanese calligraphy (Kanji) indicating the owner's name and the origin:

  • 新潟県 (Niigata-ken): Niigata Prefecture, a region in Japan.
  • 越後 (Echigo): A historical region within Niigata.
  • 中魚沼郡 (Nakauonuma-gun): A district within Echigo.
  • 仙田村 (Senda-mura): A village within Nakauonuma District.
  • 大字藤沢山 (Oaza Fujisawa-yama): A specific area within the village of Senda.
  • 佐藤貞作郎 (Sato Sadakuro): The name of the maker or owner of the cabinet.
