This elegant Cha Tansu masterfully blends functionality with refined design. The lower section features two practical drawers and a storage compartment with two wooden sliding doors and one regular door.
The middle section presents a beautiful display cabinet with polished glass sliding doors, containing an open exhibition space. Above this sits a small storage area with sliding doors lined with decorative fabric featuring an Orizuru motif 折鶴 (folded crane). Adjacent is another storage compartment with silver-toned decorative paper, secured by a glass door.
The top section offers additional storage with four sliding doors, ideal for keeping tableware, accessories, or other valuable items.
This vintage Cha Tansu - also known as Chabitsu or Chagama Tansu - was specifically designed for storing and displaying implements used in traditional Japanese tea ceremonies ("Cha" meaning tea, "Tansu" meaning storage cabinet).
Beyond its exceptional functionality, it brings a serene Japanese ambiance to any interior space.
