Vintage Japanese Gumma Kokeshi by Kisaku, 1970s

This vintage Japanese Gumma sōsaku kokeshi is a work by Kisaku and most likely dates from 1975, based on the handwritten date on the underside. The doll has an elegant cylindrical form, a large black hairstyle, a calm face with fine, understated eye lines and a small red mouth mark.

Dimensions: height 17.5 cm, diameter 7 cm.

The kimono is finished in warm red-orange wood tones, combined with black and soft yellow accents. The decoration shows stylised panels, carved lines and subtle relief details that evoke textile patterns. The quiet shape, dark hairstyle and refined kimono design give this kokeshi a beautifully balanced presence.

The kokeshi is signed and dated on the underside.

In beautiful vintage condition, with light traces of use consistent with age.
