Vintage Japanese Storage Box in Kamakura-bori Style – 1970s
Decorative Japanese suzuri-bako (writing and drawing materials box) from the 1970s, made of plastic but designed in the style of Kamakura-bori woodcarving. The lid features a delicate relief of irises (shōbu), a symbol of elegance and protection.
Dimensions: height 5 cm, width 25 cm, depth 18 cm.
The box includes a removable compartment with dividers, ideal for organizing pens, brushes, ink, or other writing tools. This makes it both a practical and decorative addition to the desk, office, or art studio.
The original cardboard packaging bears the inscription 鎌倉彫 (Kamakura-bori), referring to the famous woodcarving tradition of Kamakura. This piece is a fine example of Japanese design from the Shōwa period.
