Vintage Japanese Usaburo Kokeshi with Ume Blossoms, 1997

This vintage Japanese kokeshi by Usaburo has a soft, rounded form with a large dark hairstyle and a calm, understated face. The fine eye lines, small red mouth mark and simple silhouette give the doll an elegant, almost meditative presence.

Dimensions: height 21 cm, diameter 9 cm.

The kimono has a warm natural wood tone and is decorated with a dark brown flowing pattern, subtly finished with ume plum blossoms. The combination of visible wood grain, carved details and delicate floral decoration gives the piece a refined graphic character.

On the underside, there is a red Usaburo hanko label with a handwritten date: “1997.4”, most likely April 1997.

In very good vintage condition. A stylish collector’s piece or a warm Japanese accent for a contemporary interior.
