Vintage Minimalist Kokeshi Set, Shido Shozan, Japan, 1970s
This beautiful minimalist Kokeshi set is a creation of the renowned Japanese artist Shido Shozan (1932–1995), one of the most celebrated Kokeshi makers of the 20th century. Shozan was known for his clean lines, understated forms, and modern approach to the traditional Japanese doll craft.
Dimensions: Height 21 cm, diameter 4 cm.
The two wooden figures radiate simplicity and calm, with delicately carved faces, subtle hairstyles, and elegant, slender silhouettes.
The soft wood tones, ranging from honey to light beige, give the set a warm and natural appearance. The patina is beautiful—a quiet testament to their age and the care they've received over the years.
This set dates back to the 1970s, a period during which Shozan’s work was often marked by modernist influences. While these pieces are unsigned, they clearly reflect his distinctive style.
A perfect decorative accent for a Japandi-inspired interior, minimalist space, or a treasured collectible for lovers of Japanese craftsmanship.
