Vintage Royal Dux Porcelain Tiger, ca. 1960–1970
Dimensions: height 17 cm, width 10 cm, length 40 cm.
An imposing vintage porcelain tiger by Royal Dux, produced in former Czechoslovakia and depicted in a powerful stalking pose.
The animal is modelled naturalistically, with an elongated muscular body, bent legs and a forward-reaching head. Its low stance, tense shoulders and slightly open mouth give the tiger an alert expression and create a convincing sense of movement.
The glossy glazed porcelain is decorated in warm shades of orange, brown and cream. Black stripes carefully follow the contours of the back, flanks, head and legs, emphasising the sculptural character of the figure. Fine details around the eyes, muzzle, ears and claws give the piece a lively and expressive finish.
Royal Dux became internationally recognised for its decorative porcelain and naturalistically modelled animal figures. This generously proportioned tiger is marked on the underside and most likely dates from the third quarter of the 20th century.
With its length of 40 cm, the sculpture has a strong visual presence. It would look particularly striking on a sideboard, low cabinet, wall shelf or central display and makes an attractive collector’s object for enthusiasts of vintage porcelain, animal sculpture and mid-century interior decoration.
In excellent vintage condition, without chips, cracks or restorations.
A powerful and highly decorative Royal Dux tiger with an elegant, elongated silhouette.
