Salmon-pink Japanese silk kimono with chrysanthemums and embroidered accents, 1950s.
This elegant, richly decorated kimono is executed in a warm salmon-pink tone, with a subtle woven horizontal texture that adds extra depth to the surface.
Dimensions: length 155 cm, width 127 cm, sleeve length 68 cm, sleeve width 32 cm. Material: silk.
Across the shoulders, sleeves and hem runs a refined chrysanthemum (kiku) floral design in white, deep red and soft yellow, complemented by grey-green leaves and slender green lines that keep the composition light and airy. Along the lower edge, the design is finished with a stylised flowing-water motif in cream and red, giving the kimono a pleasing rhythm and a clear visual “frame”.
Several details are finished with embroidery, including shimmering (gold-toned) accents that subtly catch the light with movement. The kimono is lined in a bright red, creating a bold and characterful contrast that becomes immediately visible when the piece opens or is worn.
In a contemporary setting, this is also a striking textile object: perfect as a statement piece on the wall on a kimono hanger or bamboo rod, where colour and craftsmanship instantly anchor the space. Naturally, the kimono can still be worn for ceremonies, photoshoots or styling moments.
Condition: beautiful vintage condition, with normal minor signs of age and use possible, consistent with its age and storage.
