Kokeshi with Blossoms by Usaburo, 1980s, Japan

A Japanese creative kokeshi from the late Shōwa period, crafted by the renowned artist Usaburo Okamoto (1917–2009).

Dimensions: H 45 × W 10 × D 10 cm.

This impressive wooden figure features an elegant, subtly twisted, tree trunk-like silhouette, with a rich dark brown finish that beautifully highlights the flowing natural wood grain. The rounded head, in warm natural wood tones, creates a refined contrast with the slender body.

Delicate floral motifs are carved throughout the body, with soft white blossoms subtly contrasting against the dark wood. The figure is mounted on a square base of light-coloured wood.

The artist's signature appears on the side in white Japanese calligraphy.

In lovely vintage condition, with minor signs of age and use.

A rare collector's piece with a distinctive sculptural presence.
