​Vintage Kokeshi by Sumitani Kohji, 1970s–1980s, Japan

A Japanese creative kokeshi from the late Shōwa period, crafted by artist Sumitani Kohji.

Dimensions: H 16 × Ø 10 cm.

The wooden figure features an elegant, rounded silhouette and a striking, deep dark-brown hairstyle. The warm, natural wood tone of the face creates a beautiful contrast with the dark finish.

The kimono is richly decorated with deeply carved Japanese maple leaves (momiji) in warm reddish-brown tones. The leaves stand out beautifully against the dark, finely textured background.

The original red maker's seal (hanko) is located on the underside.

In good vintage condition, with minor signs of age.
