Antique Wooden Sled, Tezori, 1920s, Japan
An authentic Japanese wooden transport sled from the first half of the 20th century, featuring a beautiful natural patina and a warm, timeworn character.
Dimensions: H 33 × W 116 × D 55 cm.
The sled features a sturdy, open slatted wooden platform resting on two gracefully curved runners. The undersides of the runners are fitted with metal strips to improve gliding over snow, while the ends are reinforced with original iron fittings.
The original pulling rope, complete with metal attachment rings and a wide fabric pulling strap, is still present. The sled remains suitable for its original purpose.
Several old Japanese inscriptions and circular markings can be seen on the wooden frame. The warm wood tones, darkened areas and subtle traces of decades of use give the piece its distinctive character.
In excellent antique condition, with beautiful signs of age.
Today, this sled also makes an original and versatile interior accent. It works beautifully as a low side table, for displaying plants, ceramics or art objects, or for draping antique Japanese textiles. Whether indoors or on a sheltered terrace, its wooden construction makes a striking decorative feature.
An authentic piece of Japanese everyday history with exceptional decorative appeal.
