Set of Japanese Lacquered Bowls with Lids from Yamanaka, 1980s
Set of five Japanese lacquer bowls with lids from Yamanaka (Ishikawa), 1980s.
Dimensions per bowl: height 10 cm, diameter 11.5 cm.
The bowls have that beautiful, classic reddish-brown urushi tone and a rhythmic, turned line pattern running over the entire form. The lid follows the same lines, so bowl and lid read as one — very Japanese, very refined on the table.
In excellent condition, with barely any signs of use.
The bowls are made with a modern, lightweight core and finished on the outside with multiple layers of lacquer. This makes them pleasantly light to hold, yet sturdy and practical for everyday use — just what you want for miso soup, nimono or a small rice dish. You get the elegant look of traditional lacquerware, without the fragility or hesitation that can come with antique urushi.
Comes with the original wooden tomobako with calligraphy. A stylish, complete set for both table and interior.
