Antique Cha Tansu, Japanese Tea Cabinet, Taishō Period.
Exquisite Traditional Cha Tansu (Japanese Tea Cabinet)
Dimensions: Height 89.5 cm, width 70 cm, depth 28.5 cm.
This elegant Cha Tansu features three drawers, three storage compartments with sliding doors, and two open sections—one with a gracefully curved shelf. A perfect harmony of functionality and craftsmanship, it adds an authentic Japanese touch to your interior.
Crafted for storing and displaying tea utensils used in the traditional tea ceremony (chanoyu), this cabinet exudes timeless elegance. The name Cha Tansu (also known as Chabitsu or Chagama Tansu) reflects its purpose—"cha" meaning tea and "tansu" referring to a storage cabinet.
The cabinet is in good condition, with a naturally developed patina that enhances its character.
As visible in the photos, the veneer shows slight signs of age-related wear.
