Antique Japanese Chest of Drawers, Tansu, 1900s
Elegant Japanese tansu from the late Meiji period with a beautiful deep red-brown lacquer finish and richly detailed iron fittings.
Dimensions: height 48.5 cm, width 91 cm, depth 40 cm.
The chest features two generously sized drawers. Hardware is hand-forged black iron with circular lock plates (no key) and protective corner and edge brackets that reinforce the construction.
The warm, saturated lacquer pairs beautifully with the dark ironwork, enhancing the refined presence of the piece. Honest wear and patina testify to its age and lend an authentic wabi-sabi character.
A practical, stylish storage piece as well as a historical object—ideal as a low console or as a display surface for art, ceramics, or plants in a modern interior.
