This beautiful Japanese tsubo jar comes from Tokoname, one of the oldest and most renowned ceramic regions in Japan.

Traditionally used during tea ceremonies for storing water or dried tea leaves.
Dimensions: height 49 cm, diameter 34 cm.
The jar features a robust, slightly tapered shape with a narrow, raised neck. The texture is rough and organic, with a deep reddish-brown glaze. The surface showcases beautiful natural earth tones characteristic of traditional wood-fired ceramics.
Notable are the incised grooves around the top, creating a rhythmic decorative effect. Additionally, old Japanese repairs with metal fillings are visible, adding to the unique character of this piece.
The jar bears a metal-applied signature on the bottom and an impressed stamp near the opening.
