Unique, dark-colored drawer cabinet designed for storing important documents. This type of cabinet was commonly used by vendors and traveling traders to safeguard contracts, valuable papers, and similar items.
Dated: Meiji period (1868-1912).
This compact tansu features seven drawers. A particularly remarkable aspect of this cabinet is the presence of a hidden secret drawer concealed behind the top-left drawer.
To access this concealed compartment, the top-right drawer needs to be removed, adding an intriguing detail that enhances the cabinet's uniqueness.
Dimensions: height 56.5 cm, depth 42 cm, width 66.5 cm.
Moreover, the cabinet is in good condition with normal signs of use. The drawers and sides are adorned with metal handles.
A tansu lock bar (oshiire-bar) is not included.
