Japanese Wooden Ikebana Signboard Kanban “Koryū Seika”, 1950s
Authentic wooden signboard from an ikebana school, with bold hand-painted black calligraphy.
Dimensions: height 76 cm, width 14.5 cm, depth 2 cm.
The inscription states the title “Koryū seika gendai-bana kyōju” – a certified teacher in the Koryū style of flower arrangement – together with the name of the master: Shōsuisai Watanabe Ritoku.
The board has a warm, honey-brown tone with a lively wood grain and traces of use that add extra character.
On the back there is a recessed keyhole slot so the board can easily be hung on the wall.
As an interior accent this signboard works beautifully: you can lean it upright against a wall or cabinet, pair it with a vase of branches or an ikebana arrangement, or hang it high on the wall as a graphic, almost sculptural element. A unique touch of Japanese atmosphere that instantly gives your space a creative, studio-like feel.
