Japanese Wooden Door Panels, Minimalist Wall Decor, 1890s
This set of two original Japanese door panels has a calm, understated presence that instantly brings warmth and atmosphere to a space.
Dimensions: height 108 cm, width 89 cm, depth 3 cm.
Each panel is built with a solid outer frame and two generous fields, divided by a single horizontal rail. The composition is intentionally minimal, allowing the wood to take center stage: a striking grain with flame-like figuring and long, flowing lines that read almost graphic up close.
The tone sits in a rich red-brown range, with deeper, darker shading along the edges and a beautifully aged surface. The front shows the more mature, darker tone; light signs of use and fine scratches underline the authentic origin and age.
In a contemporary interior, these panels work beautifully as wall pieces behind a sofa or as a strong statement above a sideboard. They are equally effective in a shop, restaurant, or studio—creating a quiet, warm backdrop for ceramics, textiles, or art.
