Japanese Wooden Sculpture “Buddha Head”, Koichi, 1985

Monumental Japanese wood carving in the form of a calm, meditative Buddha head.

Dimensions: height 66 cm, width 25 cm, depth 17 cm.

Carved from a single solid block of wood, the sculpture has a red-patinated finish that contrasts beautifully with the rough, natural texture left visible at the back and along the top. The tool marks remain clearly present, giving the piece a strong, sculptural presence that feels instantly at home in a clean, contemporary interior.

The underside is inscribed with “1985” and “Koichi saku”, meaning: made by Koichi.

In good, honest condition with light wear and age-related traces consistent with the material and its age.
